Soon after being raised to Master Mason, Nick joined Oasis Shriners on June 3rd, 2017, and became a Life Member of Oasis. His commitment to Masonry continued to grow, and in 2023, he had the honor of serving as Master of Newell Lodge #739. He is also a member of the Scottish Rite, continuing to expand his Masonic education and fellowship.

Nick didn't waste any time getting involved at Oasis. Since 2018, he has served as the Secretary of Mecklenburg Shrine Club, keeping things organized and running smoothly. He's also an active member of both the Brewmasters and Red Fez Shrine Clubs, where fellowship and friendship are always on tap. And has served as Captain of the Greeters Unit, welcoming nobles and guests with the hospitality that Oasis is known for.

From 2019 to 2025, Nick was a dedicated member of the Paper Crusade, helping to raise critical funds for Shriners Children's. He also honored to serve on the Circus Committee from 2022 to 2025, working to bring joy and laughter to families while supporting our philanthropic mission. In 2023, Nick took on the role of Social Media Committee Chair, helping Oasis connect with nobles and the community in the digital age, and in 2025, Nick had the privilege of serving as Chief Aide for Illustrious Sir Chris Hall, learning firsthand the dedication and leadership required to guide Oasis.

When he's not wearing his fez, Nick brings a unique blend of technical expertise and hands-on experience to his professional life. He served his country in the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard as an avionics technician, working on F-16 and C-130 airframes. His military service instilled in him a dedication to precision and teamwork that continues to guide his career today.

Nick holds an Associate of Science in Avionics Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force, and pursued his passion for engineering by earning both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from UNC Charlotte, specializing in Embedded Systems. He also holds an active Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate, because apparently managing complex projects wasn't challenging enough without a certification to prove it!

Since 2005, Nick has been employed at Chemring Sensor and Electronics Systems, where he currently serves as the Lead Systems Engineer for their Research and Design Team. It's a role that requires constant innovation and problem-solving, which suits Nick perfectly.

Nick describes himself as what's known as a "T-shaped person" – someone with broad knowledge across many areas and deep expertise in a few. He embraces the saying "Jack of all trades, master of none, sometimes better than a master of one," though he admits this often leaves him wondering if he has a clue what he's doing. But as he likes to say, quoting Einstein: "If we knew what we were doing, we wouldn't call it research." That spirit of curiosity and willingness to tackle new challenges has served him well both professionally and in his Shrine work.

Nick has also given back to his community by serving as a mentor for FIRST® Robotics Competition, sharing his passion for engineering and technology with young students and helping to inspire the next generation of innovators.

Nick is married to his beautiful wife Kristy, who teaches dental hygiene and is one of Oasis's biggest supporters – you'll often find her at Shrine events, cheering on the nobles and helping out wherever needed. Together, Nick and Kristy love to travel and explore new places, with a particular passion for hiking to waterfalls. There's something about the journey to discover natural beauty that resonates with both of them.

Nick lives by the wisdom found in Scripture. Luke 12:25 reminds him, "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?" – a good reminder to stay focused on what matters and not sweat the small stuff. And Psalm 23:5 speaks to his gratitude: "You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows." Through his service to Masonry, the Shrine, and Shriners Children's, Nick's cup truly does overflow with blessings, friendship, and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children.
