CAPTAIN OF THE GUARD
In 2018, Ills. Sir Johnny Burgess installed Noble M.W. (Jack) Wallace, Jr. as Captain of the Guard. Jack’s wife, Lady Linda, as well as other friends and Divan members were present for the ceremony. Noble Jack and Linda who live in Concord have a son, a daughter and five grandkids in Columbia, S.C. and Atlanta, Ga. Jack was employed by CarMax in Charlotte for over 24 years and has recently retired. He served a combination of twelve years of active duty and reserve duty in the U.S. Army.
Jack’s Masonic career began 42 years ago when he became a Master Mason in Mint Hill Lodge #742. He has been a member of Oasis for 41 years, participating in our Fall Ceremonial in Asheville in 1979. Jack served for several years as a Coach for Mint Hill Lodge assisting new member with their Degree work and was twice Worthy Patron for the Mint Hill Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
Serving on multiple committees for Oasis, Jack was also a 25 year member and Past Captain of our Clown Unit. Mecklenburg is his home Shrine Club where he served as President three different times. Jack had the honor to serve as Chief Aide to Illus. Sir Johnny King in 2016 and has been a member of Royal Order of Jesters Court 109 since 1995. As Captain of the Guard he serves as chairman of the Circus Committee.
When asked about his appointment to the Divan, Jack said, “I was very shocked and even more humbled when asked to fill the position held so expertly by my good friend Rodney Morgan. No one can replace Rodney, but I pledge to do my best for our Temple, our Nobles, our Hospitals and our Children. I am proud to serve our Nobility and thank Illus. Sir Johnny Burgess for this opportunity.”
