John Cable


John and his wife Carol live in Trinity, North Carolina. Carol is a retired public-school teacher after 34 years. They have three girls; Jennifer 33 who is married and lives in High Point, Ivy 25 who teaches elementary school in Concord and lives in Charlotte and Sarah 22 who is attending college and living at home. They attend Hope City Church in Walburg, NC.
John worked in fire service and law enforcement for over 30 years. He has had a very distinguished career in investigations as a Homicide Detective, Vice / Narcotics Detective and as a supervisor over specialized enforcement teams. Over the span of his career, John received numernous state, national and international awards and citations for his accomplishments and service. During that same time, he spent 25 years working for race car legends Richard and Kyle Petty as their family bodyguard before retiring in 2015 from both the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office and the Petty organization.

In 2016, John was asked to come out of retirement and go to work for the North Carolina Department of Insurance as Deputy Commissioner. This is a position he currently serves in today. John’s main office is in Raleigh, but he operates offices in Willington, Archdale, Asheville and Charlotte.

John started his Masonic journey by being raised in Asheboro Lodge 699 in 2002. He is a current member of Bush Hill Masonic Lodge 732 in Archdale. He joined Oasis Shrine in 2008 during Illustrious Sir John Elder’s summer Ceremonial in Asheboro. He became a member of the Oasis NASCARTS parade unit that same year. Since 2009, John has served as an officer of the Oasis NASCARTS. During his time as unit Captain,

John was able to grow the unit to a total of 27 members and secure their largest bank balance.

In 2009, John was asked to take a position on the Greensboro Shrine Club Board of Directors. He has served the club as board member and president. Under his leadership and team building the Club was able to grow by 30 new members and associate members. Also, during his time as president of the Greensboro Shrine Club, John worked to pay respect to those who came before him by naming the ballroom after Illustrious Sir, Walter “Sticky” Burch, the front entrance lobby after Noble Sam McCall and the grillroom after Noble Robert Warren, Sr.

John believes in working as a team, he maintains a strong work ethic and attention to detail. He feels that he and his family are extremely blessed, and are humbled by the opportunities that he has been afforded since he first joined Oasis.
